Revision is an important part of a learning process, and without it, we would forget the things we learn quickly. If done correctly, for example by following Ebbinghaus's forgetting curve, it can hold the power of vast knowledge. So today I will share with you a fun game you can use to encourage students to revise their study material. *this activity is suitable for both physical and online classes* All you need to prepare is a sheet of paper with all letters of the alphabet on it. I've gathered some of the ready ones here:
There are various ways in which this activity can be done, so make sure you choose the one that suits you best :)
Individual work - give each student the handout and ask them to come up with one word for each letter. You can set a time limit and later compare students' results. Also, you can ask the class about each letter and write students' suggestions on the board to create a nice vocabulary list.
Group work - divide your students into groups and let them brainstorm. You can also make a small competition out of it and tell the students to come up with as many words for each letter as they can.
For the online class - you can ask students to write their suggestions in the chatbox or on the shared screen (depending on the tool you use for conducting classes)
As for the words, they can be anything. You can revise the vocabulary from the book's unit you just finished, or simply choose a general category (such as animals, jobs, etc.) and let your students share their knowledge😊
