Put students into pairs and have them sit back to back. Each student has a different task:
Student A: is given an easy to recreate picture (i.e. different shapes scattered around the paper, simple landscape, a room, etc.). His task is to describe the picture to Student B accurately.
Student B: is given a plain sheet of paper. His task is to try to recreate the picture that Student A is holding. He has to listen carefully to the description and ask additional questions if further explanation is needed.
Teacher’s task is to make sure that no peeking or cheating is having place during the activity!
After the first picture is finished you can change the roles in pairs and have A’s to draw the picture (if you have enough time).
The pair with the most accurate drawing wins!
I also encourage you to create a wall of paintings where students put their masterpieces and can comment on each others works.
