Using video during your lessons can be very beneficial for your students. It is not only engaging but can also work as an entertaining break from the tedious exercises that sometimes you really cannot omit. Preparing a video-based lesson or a video activity can be very time-consuming and not as rewarding as one might initially think, therefore, in this post, I will show you a platform that makes it all much easier!
If you are familiar with the page ISLCOLLECTIVE, then you probably already used this feature, however, it this page is new to you - keep reading :)
If you click here, you will be taken into this site which is a wonderful source of worksheets, presentations aaaand... interactive video activities!
When you enter the tab "Video lessons" you will be able to search video activities by a keyword, student level, grammatical structure or certain vocabulary categories. Let's say that you are going to teach your students the vocabulary connected with the house. Just type in "house" or "furniture" into the search box and voila! You will have lots of videos to choose from.
What I personally like about those activities is that most of them are based on the movies and TV series' that your students watch. This makes the experience even more enjoyable for them.
If you can't find an appropriate video, you can always create one. It is pretty simple as all you have to do is put the link to the video (i.e. from YouTube) and then add some questions to it. You can choose a moment when the question should appear. There are many types of questions you can add: gap-filling, multiple-choice, open-ended question, scrambled sentence and even "an interactive picture dictionary task" where the students need to click on the certain parts of the video (i.e. they need to click on the bed, wardrobe, etc.).
As you can see, this page offers a wide variety of exercises and activities and I highly recommend checking it out. You will not regret it for sure! If you would like to check out my video activities click HERE for one about Passive voice with Thor and HERE for one about Past Simple with Dory.
Let me know if you knew this page! :)
