Flash(cards)!

Using flashcards is a well-known method used in teaching foreign as well as a native language, especially among very young students. There are multiple interesting ways in which you can use flashcards during your classes.

This entry is the beginning of the series of posts about flashcards in which I will present lots of ideas about implementing picture (and word!) cards into your classroom. Today we will begin with the most basic one called "Flash!"

*Before you start the game make sure that your students are more or less acquainted with the flashcards that you are going to use.*

The game itself is extremely simple:

First, you have to make sure that your students are paying extra attention to what is going on. If everyone is ready, quickly pick up one of the flashcards and show them to the students for a brief moment. Their task is to name whatever they saw on the flashcard. For slower students - show the picture a bit longer so that they can identify what is shown on the card.

To make things more fun, you can divide your students into groups and make a bit of a competition out of this game. Each good guess equals one point. As you can see, this is a simple, yet super fun way to work on vocabulary. Enjoy! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me through my social media profiles :)
